Many Chinese students come to the United States to study in order to get a better job easilier than others in China, and have a better future. So do I.
Recently, I have been reading a lot of articles about hospitality education in China and the hospitality management in Chinese market. I noticed that many universities in the United States have established partnerships with Chinese universities. In this way, students from one country could go to another country as exchange students, and learn different skills of management. Education in China and US is totally different, I think differen culture can help students learn more.
Some people think that Chinese student may want to stay in the United States to be one of the managers in US hotels. However, many Chinese students are being prepared to enter into China’s growing hospitality industry to become high-level managers and eventually take on corporate positions. In my opinion, although there are many Chinese companies have enough strength to employ talented people to manage a hotel, the potential of hotel management in Chinese market is huge. René J.M. Schillings ever said "Working as a Hotel Manager in China I realized how difficult it was to find
qualified local staff in China and when it came to hiring expatriates from
overseas it was also often hit & miss. 40% of the foreigners who come to
work in China do not complete their first contract. They resign or get
terminated." I think Chinese students who study abroad still have lots of chances to become high-level managers in hotels.
Every big dream started with a small step. The only thing we could do is to study hard and bring good ways of managing a hotel to China. We can't control the market, but we do can control our own knowledge. I always believe that chances are for the people who prepare well.
I think it is good that you came to the United States to study hospitality management. I think it will give you a very good advantage in your resume when applying for positions back in China. It is good because you will have a good education from the US while having a background in Chinese culture so you will be able to relate to both American customers and Chinese customers.
